Jhase allowed herself a faint smile. If he only knew... Genteel crime, white-collar corruption. That was probably what he dealt with most of the time. Unlike her. "The scum you refer to and the type I deal with are of slightly different calibers, I think. Not that it matters. So you are willing to help me out? I'm sure my client will be very grateful for any assistance you can give." She reached down for the small voice recorder tucked into her boot top.

Halna's brow wrinkled at Danny's offer. She couldn't believe he would turn in one of her liasions between the smugglers and the thieves! Danny reached down and caught Jhase's wrist. "I doubt you'll need that. He's right over there. Box 2318," he said as he waved a hand in the direction of the box.

Jhase jerked her wrist from his grasp, instinctively bringing her other arm up in a fighter's stance before remembering where she was. "Thanks then," she said, relaxing her guard. Maybe Halna was right. Maybe what Jhase had always merely seen as hard-wired survival instinct was paranoia to the rest of the galaxy. She directed her gaze toward the box Paddie indicated, wishing for her helmet with its magnifying visor, then frowned. "Don't play games with me. That's not him." The fashionably dressed young man accompanied by the pair of brilliant blue Twi'leks didn't look anything like the smuggler she knew of.

Chuckling, Halna leaned forward. "No need to get antsy, Jhase," she teased, "That is[/] Leran. I can vouch." A small shrug accompanied the comment. Silently she relaxed. Way to go, Danny! She had forgotten that Kandarr had borrowed the Leran alias from a wealthy playboy that often visited the opera.

Jhase frowned. "Not the one I'm looking for." She swore quietly under her breath. She needed those credits... But there had been Paddie's slight reaction. She was convinced he still knew something. "Big galaxy. Guess I shouldn't be surprised there are two men with the same name. That milksop definitely doesn't look like smuggler material."

Halna shook her head. "I'd be surprised if he is. Milksop doesn't begin to cover that pansy," she complained. At a look from Danny she added, "Sorry, Danny. I know you've always liked him." She patted his knee. "Just because I think he's more upstanding than certain others doesn't mean I like him." Danny shrugged, "Can I get either of you ladies anything to drink? I'm sorry I'm such a terrible host," he offered suddenly.

Jhase shrugged. "That'd be nice. Whatever you're having. And relative trustworthiness is something I don't even want to start discussing. My profession is probably considered pretty low on the trust scale by all these toffs-" she indicated the rest of the audience- "but I wouldn't trust any of them as far as I could throw them."

"Good. Then I trust you. At least as far as I can throw you," Danny joked. He pressed a button on the console in front of them and a waiter immediately appeared beside their box. "Two electric loxes and a twisted rogue. On the rocks," he ordered. "At least you know my drink," Halna smirked.

Jhase smiled. "I'd like to see you try." In spite of herself, she was beginning to like Paddie... Not in the same way Halna did, but he seemed to be a decent type. Even if he was keeping something from her... She knew he knew more than he was letting on.

Halna laughed. "He's a weakling. He probably wouldn't even be able to lift you. It's a wonder he can lift me, and I'm even smaller than you," she teased, before blushing profusely at the implications of her words. I've slipped up more tonight than in the rest of my life put together, she thought warily. Danny mock-glared, oblivious to her innuendo, as usual.

Jhase raised an eyebrow, grinning. "Yeah, but it's all muscle." She flexed one arm, smirking slightly at Halna's blush and Paddie's obvious cluelessness. If the man couldn't tell she liked him, he was thicker than Jhase had thought. Jhase could tell, and she was fairly sure it wasn't entirely because of how well she knew her friend's mannerisms...

Danny laughed. "I won't show you mine," he admitted, "High society makes you a bit soft." Halna swatted his arm. "That's not true. You aren't soft. Far from it," she said. If only he weren't so clueless. It would make this so much easier... Just then their waiter arrived with the drinks. Halna quickly grabbed hers off the tray and took a sip to quiet her unruly thoughts.

Jhase smiled back, wondering if she could somehow drop any hints to Paddie or if that would just make the situation worse. She took a cautious sip of her own drink and coughed slightly. "Whoa. What is this stuff? High society doesn't make you too soft, apparently!"

Halna made a face. "Ugh. Sorry, Jhase. That one's mine. This is yours," she said, handing over the glass, "Too sweet for me. Corellian blood, you know?" Danny raised his eyebrows. "Yeah, sweet's not really your thing, babe," he commented. "Just exactly what is that supposed to mean?" Halna asked indignantly. "Remember the taffy," he chided. Halna grimaced at the memory of her miserably failed cooking experiment. "So I'm not entirely domestic," she protested.

Jhase traded glasses with Halna, taking a sip of her actual drink and smiling. "Wasn't that the time that you set off the fire alarm and had to hide half your latest haul in your underwear drawer before the fire department got there? Your place smelled like burnt sugar for a week at least." Before Halna could make a cutting remark about Jhase's own domestic skills, she held up a hand and grinned. "Not that I could do any better myself. How about you, Mr Paddie? Are you as domestically challenged as the two of us?"
