Halna Louvellu stepped into the bustling restaurant known as Dex's Diner. She took a seat at her booth in a corner and waited for the droid waitress to take her order. The waitress rolled over - Halna noticed she was squeaking; she should bring some oil by later - and Halna ordered a batch of Dex's famous fries. They dripped with grease, but frankly she didn't really care right now. She was waiting for her contact. No, she wasn't in law enforcement of any kind. Quite the opposite in fact. She was waiting for the most recent payoff from her crew of thieves.

Lavinia Wren, a half-veil across her lower face and dressed in the dull colors of a traditional Dantooine matron. Behind her, Abiran laid an unobtrusive hand on a hidden blaster, and murmured in her ear. "I don't like this, Lavinia. It's not safe." She shushed him, casting a nervous glance at a pair of passing Bith. "It won't be safe if you call me by that name. I'm Fema while we're outside the speeder." She looked around the crowded restaurant, and saw the copper-haired woman in the corner booth. She grinned. "Abiran, look! It's our friend Nurse Louvellu. We should go say hello." She hurried forward, winding her way through the tables. Abiran snatched for her wrist, but missing. "Not smart, Fema. If we're not supposed to be here-" But it was too late. Lavinia had reached the woman's table, throwing a mischievous glance back at Abiran. "Why, Nurse Louvellu, fancy meeting you here!" she exclaimed. "Remember me, Fema Baab? You patched up my brother's collarbone." She paused, winking at the seated woman. "Oh, and of course you remember my cousin Abiran!" she added, as her frowning bodyguard reached the booth.

Anyone else would have at the very least choked on their drink, but Halna was as cool as can be. She smiled politely and gestured for Lavinia to sit. "How are you, Fema?" The name rolled off her tongue, completely natural. "And you, Abiran? What are you guys doing here?" Despite her collected demeanor, she was frantically trying to decide what to do. Somehow she had to get Lavinia and her bodyguard out of there before her contact showed up! And what was with the alias? Fema?

Lavinia grinned mischievously, feeling slightly reckless without her confining formal senate robes. "Oh, just looking for a friend." She slid smoothly into the seat opposite the woman and lowered her voice. "A reputable private investigator. I have reason to believe the shot that hit Ailil was meant for me." She looked up at Abiran and patted the seat next to her. With a last wary look around, he grudgingly sat down next to her.

A private investigator?! That's just what Halna needed at a time like this. How was she going to get them out of the diner? "Oh my. That's terrible, Fema!" She really did feel bad. Lavinia was the first senator Halna had ever genuinely liked. Suddenly an idea struck her. She wouldn't get them out. She would invite them to stay once her contact got there. Hopefully her contact wouldn't be anyone too suspicious looking... And hopefully the contact would be smart enough to realize Lavinia and Abiran weren't exactly part of the Thieves...

Lavinia assumed a suitably grave expression. "Thank you, Nurse Louvellu. I truly appreciate your concern." Abiran, craning his head around to see the door, turned back and opened his mouth. Lavinia kicked him under the table. He scowled even more, but subsided, rubbing his shin. Lavinia continued smoothly, "But what of you? Just out enjoying a day off?"

Halna grinned at Abiran's pained expression. "I'm sensing medical attention is needed," she joked, "Yeah, it's the only day I have off for almost two weeks, so I might as well enjoy it!" Just then she noticed her contact come in. All she knew was that the person would be wearing a purple vest and black dress pants. At first glance she groaned. Not Danny! What was he doing delivering her payoff?! Didn't he know what scandal he could cause? Then she realized she could work it to her advantage. Maybe Lavinia knew Danny! After all, his father was a senator. Hmm... Danny eyed her full table anxiously from across the room but she beckoned him over.

Lavinia smiled back. "Very true. It's nice to have some time off once in a while." She turned curiously to see who the nurse was waving to. "Um, I hate to interrupt if you're supposed to be meeting someone. We can get another table if it's important."

Halna wasn't sure how to reply. She desperately wanted to get rid of Lavinia and Abiran if she could - and she meant that in the kindest way possible - but she didn't want to appear rude either. Inwardly she sighed. She had too much of her mother in her. She followed her heart and said, "Oh no, it's not important at all! Just a lunch date with a friend of mine." Danny slowly approached the table, a question in those gorgeous eyes of his. Halna cringed, hoping Lavinia didn't notice the question or the eyes. Her thoughts came to a screeching halt. Why should she care if Lavinia noticed Danny's eyes? She shook herself out of her reverie as Danny came to the edge of the table. "Fema, this is my friend Danny Paddie. His father is Senator Ister Paddie. Danny, this is Fema Baab."

Lavinia smiled, wondering inwardly why Senator Paddie's son would be meeting a nurse in a place like this diner. She was grateful that she had never actually met the boy, so there was no chance of him recognizing her... Thank goodness she had thought to wear a veil, just in case. "Pleasure to meet you, Danny, I'm sure. This is my cousin Abiran." Abiran nodded, rather curtly, Lavinia thought. She elbowed him lightly, "Smile a bit, won't kill you," she murmured.

Halna noticed a look of slight relief in Lavinia's eyes, and figured that it was due to Danny's apparent lack of knowledge of her true identity. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Baab. And you, sir," Danny said, politely. Halna patted the seat beside her. "Sit down Danny." He did as she said and his arm settled comfortably about her shoulders. It wasn't unusual; he always did that. But for some reason she was acutely aware of the contact. What was wrong with her?! She felt a blush creep up her cheeks as she realized she was staring at him. He raised an eyebrow at her, but said nothing.

Lavinia saw the slight blush and quickly averted her gaze, smiling inwardly. A friend, was he? As her gaze fell on the waitress, she realized that she was hungry. "Um, so what would you recommend for a light lunch?" she asked. "I've never been here before."

Halna was relieved at the diversion. She smiled at Lavinia and replied, "Oh, the fried nerfsteak is wonderful here. But really anything Dex makes is great. Don't eat too much though. It's addictive." She felt Danny's hand on her knee and her stomach tightened. Then she realized he was tapping out a message to her. The... credits... are... in... my... sock. His sock? Why?!

Lavinia nodded, smiling. "Sounds quite good!" She waved to the waitress and ordered the steak. She poked Abiran in the ribs again. "Hungry? You're allowed to eat, you know." He shrugged unenthusiastically. "Another order of nerf steak, then," Lavinia told the woman. "And two Corellian ales, if you have it?" The woman nodded and bustled off toward the kitchen. "So, how about that nuna ball game last night?" Lavinia said, taking a wild stab at a topic of conversation that wouldn't give her away.

Even someone with a sabaac face like Halna's couldn't contain an incredulous grin if they knew who Lavinia was. Halna laughed out loud. "You watched a game of nuna ball last night?" She asked, trying not to sound too shocked. Danny elbowed her. He obviously knew who Lavinia was - he could tell she didn't want anyone else to know which was why he hadn't let on. She made a face at him. "Well! It was funny!" He just glared at her. She let a small giggle out, but bit her lip.
OOC: Oh, you're an angel! I was so bored, I thought I was going to actually keel over.
