Ann giggled. "Did you ever see the footage that reporter got of me? What was his name? Den Dhur or something. Anyways, he was a war correspondent temporarily out of a job. I was happy to land him that spot with the Times," her voice belied large amounts of sarcasm as she rolled her eyes.

"Only about a hundred times! You must be worth quite a bit, the number of gossip features I saw you in. I think I was mentioned in a few," Lavinia continued pensively. "Not Abiran, though. How did you manage that? You were right there just a moment before." He smirked. "I've had plenty of practice avoiding being shot, with blaster or camera."

Annu nodded. "I know. You'd think I was the only senator that had ever slipped up. Remember when that senator from Adumar was caught with a load of glitterstim? They didn't make anything out of that! But when I trip down a flight of stairs, it's plastered everywhere!"

"Yes, well, that was a 'serious legal matter'," Lavinia said sarcastically. "But everyone knows that the Adumar consulate paid the 'nets handsomely to have that particular scandal hushed up. Your trip was rather less career-destroying, although it wrecked your lovely dress, didn't it?"

Ann nodded dismally. "I remember that! Those 'nets claim to be Republican through and through, but they're scoundrels! And, yes, that fall did ruin my dress. It was custom made, too! I didn't pay for it, Mother did, but that's completely not the point! Remember, it had those sequins all down the front of the bodice? Weren't they just dazzling?"

Lavinia nodded sympathetically. "It was lovely. The sequins were my favorite part! But you were able to salvage part of it, weren't you? The skirt on the dress you wore to that new Corellian senator's reception looked rather familiar."

Ann nodded. "Well, it was just so beautiful, I couldn't help but reuse it. I had the seamstress make a top out of a lighter shade to match it. I think it turned out rather nice, don't you think?" Her Bespin accent shone through just a bit in her last comment and she grinned wryly.

"Yes, it was lovely! Almost as lovely as the original dress." Lavinia smiled. "I took a leaf out of your book, actually. See if you recognize part of the dress I'm wearing to the opera."

Ann looks pleasantly surprised. "I'm honored!" she grins widely. "Oh, speaking of the opera, when are we going with Amidala?"

"Tomorrow night. I think it starts at eight, but I'll have to check." Lavinia pulled a delicate commlink from her belt and tapped a few keys. "Yes, eight. Would you like to have dinner first, or afterward? We have so much to catch up on, and I know the perfect place." She tucked the commlink back securely into her belt. "Remember that old place in the Torai building? It's under new management who hired a new chef from Alderaan, and the food is simply to die for now."

Annu thought for a moment. "How about we have dinner after... That way we won't have to worry about being late for the show. Oh, I just adore Alderaanian food! They have such exotic taste and they're chefs are always simply charming! Oh, how silly of me! I almost forgot to invite you to Mallina Cashell's tonight! She's hosting a party and asked me to invite you."

Lavinia nodded. "After it is, then. We'll come round to pick you up about seven-thirty, shall we?" She tilted her head. "Mallina Cashell... I know her. She's that aide from- oh, where is it? I see her in the turbolift all the time."

Ann sipped her drink. "She's Coruscanti, I believe. But no matter." She waved her hand, dismissing the fact. "She just asked me to invite you over tonight. It's lucky I happened to see you today, or I would have had to holo you. Not that I don't positively adore my lovely little pink projector..." She grinned slyly. "I do seem to be able to talk for hours on it!"

Lavinia nodded, smiling. "I do remember your pink projector." She grinned suddenly. "Remember the time it went off right in the middle of that Trade Federation ambassador's speech? I almost had to step outside. It threw the windbag right off his train of thought, though, thank goodness!"

Ann put a hand over her mouth as she laughed. "It did save us at least an hour of 'We've been mistreated's didn't it?" She giggled, remembering the look of disbelief on the ambassador's face-and the thousands of relieved but suppressed sighs from the other senators. The Trade Federation had been nothing but annoying and troublesome since the day they invaded Naboo...
