Lavinia Durada-Vashte Wren, representative of the sovreign planet of Cularin and its moons, sub-committee chairwoman of the Board on the Study of the Effects of a Continued Embargo of Slave-Mined Spice from Huttese Worlds, lay back on the cushions placed on the top deck of the boat and closed her eyes, letting the warm sunlight wash over her, feeling the tenseness oozing out of her muscles. How lovely it was to just pretend that she was fourteen again and that she was floating on the bay under a brilliant azure sky, and that any moment now her brother would splash her and say something about expecting him to sail this thing all by himself. She smiled. She still missed Corrin, even so many years later, but now at least she could think of him without feeling that awful empty gulf inside. She listened to the sound of the water lapping gently against the hull and the happy shouts of the tourists in the passing ferry. Suddenly, she sat up and looked around. She could have sworn she heard someone call her name...

"Lavinia! Lavinia!" Senator Annu "Ann" Relli called from her personal yacht. She had noticed her friend and had been attempting to get her attention. She saw the other senator sit up suddenly and look around. She jumped up and down and waved her arms. "Lavinia! Over here!" The two had been friends ever since Lavinia's pilot/bodyguard, Abiran, had accidentally run into Ann's speeder. The poor man apologized profusely every time he saw her thereafter!

Lavinia squinted, shading her eyes with one hand. "Ann? How are you? I haven't seen you for a while! Come aboard, have a drink!" She poked her head into the cabin. "Loretta!" she called. Her maid looked up from a holoromance. "Senator Relli is coming aboard. Please tell the captain and fix something cool, will you? Thanks." She dashed back up on deck to wait for her friend.

Ann had her pilot pull up alongside Lavinia's boat and gracefully jumped aboard, just as she was returning from below deck. "Oh Lavinia, it's been forever!" She reached out and hugged her old friend. "You look wonderful! Did you change your hair?" Ann's bubbly personality rose to the surface as she chattered away, glad to see Lavinia.
OOC: Hey, it's me, Halna!

Lavinia grinned happily as she returned the embrace. "Yes, do you like the braids? They're so comfortable. And you look great too! That color really brings out your eyes." Loretta emerged from the cabin with two glasses on a tray, condensation collecting on the outsides already. Lavinia took both of them and handed one to Ann. "Something cold?"
OOC: Oh, hi!

Ann took the drink gratefully. "Oh thanks. I was dying on the yacht! The top is ripped, so we took it out without it on this afternoon." She sipped the drink and told Loretta how wonderful it was. "So how have you been, 'Vinia?!" The two sat down on the nearby chaise for a chat.

Loretta smiled and moved back inside the cabin. As Lavinia settled onto the chaise, a canopy spread itself out over the main deck, blocking the sun. "I can tell, your nose looks a bit red! It's a good thing we ran into each other then. My life's been more of the same," she said, waving a dismissive hand. "I'm chairwoman of a subcommittee now, so I have to organize meetings and stay awake during them too! But next week I'm going back home for a visit, so that'll be a nice break. How about you? Still campaigning for- oh, what was it again? Civil war orphans from that system in the Outer Rim?"

Ann self-consciously rubbed the tip of her nose. "The Rattal System. Yes, I'm still campaigning for it, but not as actively as I was. Another senator took it over... Senator Amidala, I believe. Do you know her? She's an absolute doll!" She turned at the sound of her name from the other end of the deck. She jumped up. "Abiran! It's so good to see you!" She embraced the burly pilot good-naturedly.

Abiran patted her gently in the back with one calloused hand. "Senator Relli, it's been a while." Lavinia grinned. "Yes, she really is! I had the pleasure of meeting her not too long ago, and we're going to the new opera together tonight."

"Oh, the one about those women from Slama? It looked so intriguing! I can't wait to see it," Annu replied. She really hated opera singing, but the costumes were always so lovely and she loved to go places with friends, so it was a natural option. She turned back to Abiran. "Yes, it has been a while. More than a while, really. Six months is far too long to go without seeing such a handsome friend." She jokingly pinched his cheek. It had become something of a tradition for them, as he had once said he hated it when his grandmother did that, making it completely irresistible for her.

"Well, why don't you come with us? I'm sure I can get an extra ticket for you." Lavinia giggled at the look on Abiran's face. "I wa hoping you'd have forgotten," he rumbled. "Six months is quite a while in the life of such a busy person as you, Senator, and of course you have more important things to think about than ways to embarrass old friends."

"Oh, I'd love that, Lavinia! Are you sure it's no trouble? I wouldn't want to be a burden," she gushed, then turned to Abiran. "How could I have forgotten?! Ways to embarrass old friends is my specialty! Remember the time Lavinia got on the wrong speeder and flew all the way to Alderaan before she realized she was going the wrong direction?" She smiled gaily and patted Abiran's arm. "There, now you're both embarrassed."

Lavinia covered her face, giggling. "I don't know how I didn't notice Bail Organa sitting right in front of me!" She looked up and grinned. "And no, it will be no trouble at all! Just as long as you don't intend to take another nose dive down the center aisle."

Ann blushed scarlet and smirked. "Okay, now we're all embarrassed," she laughed to herself a bit, remembering, "I never thought I would use this as an excuse, but I was so completely drunk, I can't believe I even remember it." She put a hand to her cheek, knowing she must be beet red. "It was all Abiran's fault. He's the one that brought us those drinks. Gosh, they were horrible! Do you remember that part or has the image of me tumbling head over heels down the stairs taken over everything else?"

Lavinia grinned. "Well, all right, I do remember that. And those were rather high heels you were wearing, and the train on your dress too! I suppose it's a wonder you didn't break your neck." She stood and swatted Abiran's arm lightly. "There, then. It's all your fault! Not only do you have no taste in liquor, but a terrible sense of humor too!" He rolled his eyes as she sank back down onto the chaise, laughing. "The look- on your face- when you slipped!" she gasped. "Oh dear!"
