Jhase leaned back against the wall, sipping at a tall mug of Corellian ale. The Outlander was as dark, crowded, and noisy as ever, and she wondered again why she'd come. But it had been a long time since she'd been to Coruscant, and one never knew when a few contacts would come in handy. A grinning drunk began to amble over to her table, but, seeing her helmet with its distinctive T-shaped visor sitting there and the look on her face, changed his mind in a hurry. She almost wished he hadn't. She could use a good brawl right now, just to loosen up a little. She took another drink, relishing the bitter taste, and let her gaze wander freely over the motley assortment of people, pausing suddenly. That wasn't- Surely not. Impossible. But you never knew... She frowned. If that was who she thought it was, then there was no sense in hiding. She sat back and waited.

Halna Louvellu, Queen of the Thieves, sat at the bar, quietly sipping on her drink. She glanced around her at the chaos that was the Outlander Club, her favorite sleezy joint. She grinned at the thought, remembering some of the great brawls she gotten into there. Suddenly out of the corner of her eye she saw something. It took all her years of experience and training not to pull her blaster and shoot the bounty hunter on sight. Instead she gathered up her purse in one hand and her drink in the other and made her way over to the table. She took a seat without being invited and set her glass on the smooth surface. "Hello, Mereel," she murmured distrustfully under her breath as she folded her arms on the table top.

"Louvellu," Jhase returned cooly, inclining her head without taking her eyes off the other woman. "Or should I say your Highness? So... nice to see you alive again." She supposed she really shouldn't be surprised. The woman, despite her deceivingly pleasant looks, was one of the major players in the Coruscanti underworld. A valuable ally, had it not been for that one time...
((By the way, it's me, Lavinia!))

"You knew I would be," Halna smiled, but it was far from pleasant, "I have a distinct knack for surviving. Not to boast or anything." She took a long sip from her frosty-looking glass. "So, how is it that you're still alive? The last I'd heard, you'd disappeared somewhere around Kessel..." She raised an eyebrow, challenging Jhase to counter her.
OOC: Oh!! lol. Hey!

Jhase's smile was as chilly as the other woman's glass. "I've had lots of practice not dying, unlike the idiot who was chasing me at the time." She took a gulp of ale. "You've got to watch out for those black holes in the Kessel system, but apparently this chakaar had better things to do than pay attention to star charts." She ran a finger along the hilt of a throwing knife sheathed in one wrist guard. "I'm not sure who was after me that time, but I would advise them that if they want the job done, spend a bit more."

Halna grinned. "Well, you know, for a price, I might be able to help you with that. Finding out who's after you that is. I do get around quite a bit, you know. Being the Queen and all." Halna stared her ex-friend down over her glass. They would probably still be friends, were it not for that one time...

Jhase raised an eyebrow. "Which one? I'm quite popular, you know." She drained her mug. "I remember. You were quite invaluable in locating that one job for me. Pity you had to go and stab me in the back like that."

"Me?! Oh no. There was no back stabbing being done on my part! Maybe on yours, but most certainly not on mine. After all, you were the one that tried to poison me," Halna glared at Jhase. "I still can't believe you would do that to me. Especially when we were so close for so long."

Jhase straightened, scowling. "I never tried to poison you," she hissed, struggling to keep her voice quiet. "Just the hut'uun with you. You want to choose your drinking partners more carefully! And you never doublecrossed me? Who beside you knew that particular false registration number?"

Halna shrugged noncommitally. "My advisors see all my files. They were promptly fired when that unfortunate incident occured. I was greatly saddened when I heard the news. That could have been the biggest heist of my life!" She shook her head sadly, sipping her minty green-looking drink.

Jhase sat back, taking a deep, calming breath. Even when they had been friends- yes, they had been friends, not merely allies- Louvellu was one of the only people who could crack her impassive facade. That was all well and good when they had been friends, but now it was frankly dangerous. She raised her mug, only to remember it was empty. Scowling, she waved curtly to a server before replying. "Your advisors," she said scornfully. "I still can't believe you convinced me to help you steal." She massaged her temples roughly. "I'm still not convinced you're entirely guiltless, but I do need some information. Can I trust you that far?"

"You've always been able to trust me. Friend." Halna smiled, though it was more with her eyes than with her lips. "I swear, I am guiltless in that regard. To say I was utterly guiltless would be a sin, but you know what I mean..." the Queen smirked at her oxymoron. She would never admit it aloud, but Mereel had been the only person that could ever actually get her to open up. She had wished countless times that they were still friends.

Jhase eyed her for a moment. It was true, she had always been able to trust the Queen in the past... But caution was always called for. That was one lesson she'd learned on the streets, and it had been reinforced more times than she cared to count by her adopted father. She reached into a belt pouch and brought out a small holoprojector, flicking it on with one gloved thumb. The shimmering blue image of a young man's head and shoulders suddenly filled the air above the projector. "Name of Paddie, Danny Paddie. My client wants to ask him some questions, and I've heard rumors that he may be attached to your organization." She held up a hand to forestall any protest. "My client only wants information. No harm should come to him unless he proves... uncooperative. I know how careful you are about your people."

Halna's years of training kept her eyes from widening in shock and horror. Danny?! What could anyone want with Danny? she thought, mortified. If she had gotten him into trouble with somebody in the underworld she'd never forgive herself... She forced herself to calm down and reply. "Who's the client?" she figured the question was noncommital and it definitely wasn't admitting Danny was tied to her in any way, shape, or form. Besides, it might give her a chance to get her thoughts in order.

Jhase smiled thinly, raising an eyebrow at the pause before her companion's reply. "That would be telling, wouldn't it? I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to divulge that information. Confidentiality requested and all, you know how business is. But I can tell you that I've worked with them before and they have a... perhaps good is the wrong word, but a fairly non-violent reputation." She snorted slightly. "Don't know why they hired me, then, but I'm not complaining..." She shrugged, flicking off the holo as the server set her ale on the table. "So."
